TRUE NEUTRAL CREW VIDEO DIARY FOR BOWLEGS
The Bowlegs site had Margot and Brian from True Neutral Crew do a video diary for their site. This ragged vid walks you through each member’s home studios, and some goofy places like a chicken populated recycling center and Brian’s homemade haunted house from this recent Halloween. Awkward, and definitely not rock star style.
For the full article, visit the Bowlegs site here.
A little bit of vid I took while Robedoor was recording their part for the True Neutral Crew song.
Did some recording with Robedoor for the next True Neutral Crew release, #POPPUNK. Dungeon shit.
CONCLUSION OF THE STRANGER’S EPIC DEATHBOMB ARC FEATURE
I can’t express enough gratitude to Sean Jewel and The Stranger for this incredible piece they’ve done on Deathbomb Arc. Part 3 is out now and while I could ramble on about it’s contents, I’ll just sum it up with the quote: What’s the point of any music?
Ha! We’re the happy nihilists here and we hope you enjoy the sounds.
And please remember, Deathbomb Arc tries to provide as much free music as we do for sale, because we want every interested person to be able to participate. Experimental music fans are already in such small numbers as it is. There is no reason to divide ourselves by finances as well. If you would like to check out the music we offer for free, just visit our discography page and use the “options” button in the upper left to sort by ‘free digital releases’.
Thank you for being here. Lots more to come!
PART 2/3 OF THE STRANGERS EPIC DEATHBOMB ARC GROUP INTERVIEW
The Seattle Weekly The Stranger’s in depth feature on Deathbomb Arc continues. Based on a group interview with Steven Cano (tik///tik), William Hutson & Jonathan Snipes (clipping.), Margot Padilla (I.E. / True Neutral Crew), Cristina Bercovitz (videographer), and myself (Deathbomb head, True Neutral Crew), this feature covers a ton of topics. In part 2 we talk about how our love of hiphop (especially Cash Money and No Limit) and soul music brought us all together so many years ago.
SEATTLE’S ‘THE STRANGER’ CONDUCTS 3 PART DEATHBOMB ARC GROUP INTERVIEW (PART 1)
A few weeks ago, Sean Jewel from the Seattle weekly ‘The Stranger’ conducted the first ever Deathbomb Arc group interview. As seen in the photo (L-R), Margot Padilla of I.E/True Neutral Crew, Steven Cano of tik///tik/Stupid Future, myself, William Hutson of clipping., and Jonathan Snipes of clipping. Cristina Bercovitz, a key player in the visual style of Deathbomb, took the photo and was there for the interview. We talked for a very long time about a ton of aspects of both the labels history and what has brought us all together for so many years as artists the love working together. We also talked about where things are now and the future of the label (hey, see those cool tapes from Mad Murderz, VIPER VENOM, and Signor Benedick The Moor on the table!). The results are coming out over the course of three installments. Part one came out today. We inundated Sean with a ton of information, often at an insane pace over lapping each other. Due to this, some of the facts feel slightly shifted from exact accuracy here, but as William says at the end of the interview, “we have no concern for authenticity. Lying is a performance; we lie a lot.” LOL.
This article is an epic undertaking and I’d like to extend tons of gratitude to Sean for pulling this together. It was so much fun to be a part of.
VA - EVIL [compilation ablum by Deathbomb Arc]
out: 2014.01.24 “Aacts were asked to write songs about evil in whatever form they wished, from the specific to the abstract; from the cartoonish to the most horrible and real.”
EVIL COMPILATION, FEAT. BLACK PUS, SIGNOR BENEDICK, OUT NOW
Evil, for a good cause. Deathbomb Arc’s latest compilation is out now. Entitled ‘EVIL’, we invited acts to write songs about this concept in any form they wished. From the abstract to the specific, from the cartoonish to the horrible and oh so real. The compilation is available to download at any price you wish, including free, but any money we do receive for the release will be donated to the anti-debt charity Rolling Jubilee. Economies designed to keep the majority of people crushed by debt seemed like a big enough evil to us to be worth fighting. Even if you don’t have money to donate, you can help by spreading the word on this compilation.
Contributors to the comp include:
diss1 - Incredible MC from Glasgow, blending the smoother hiphop sounds of the 90’s with the more abrasive noiserap sounds of today.
Boo Hiss - Alias of Books on Tape. The father of beat punk and one of the first musicians Deathbomb ever worked with.
Plack Blague - This dude is evil even when working on comps like this! Move over Satan!
Black Pus - You know him, you love him. But trust us, you’ve never heard him like this before!
Rind - New LA act with a history based in both the Chicago noise rock scene that birthed Coughs and in the formal training of opera.
Sissy Cobb - Alias of tik///tik, one of the purest voices in experimentation that LA has to offer and another act Deathbomb has worked with for years now
True Neutral Crew - Half-jokingly called Krautrap, this act brings together the skills of rappers, noiserockers, and electronic musicians in equal measure.
GRYPT - After the appocalypse, this is the act that will perform at VH1’s DIVAS concert.
ParallaxScroll - Elegant sci-fi electronics from the same mastermind behind this compilation’s gorgeous artwork.
